Making App Switching Easier

I've started to accumulate a lot of helpful Mac OS X applications that sit in the background and wait for me to call on them.  For example, I use LaunchBar to easily open files and applications without the mouse, and RescueTime to track how I use my time during the day. I'm also experimenting with EverNote as a paperless office solution, and Skitch as a way of communicating more clearly by email.

Unfortunately, adding all of these background helpers makes it more difficult to switch between the real powerhouse applications in my day-to-day work.  For example, I often switch between the Terminal, Textmate and Firefox while developing a website.  Is it possible to "turn off" the unwanted applications in the dock and app switcher (⌘-tab)?

MacOSXHints.com had the answer for me and thankfully I've been much more efficient with "switching" today.

Look at me! I'm using Posterous! And Twitter!

This is kind of cool... normally, I would tell you that I just signed up for an online service that does something cool. But this time, I didn't have to sign up at posterous.com! I made an initial post by sending an email to post@posterous.com, and voila! A photo of my sister dressed up in Kelty's wedding dress is sent to a fresh, clean-looking web page.

What's even more interesting to me is that this service also forwards my posts to my blog (as I assume you're reading) and my new twitter account. We'll see how this pans out in the future. As of right now, however, I'm impressed!
